Lunch at one of, if not Zuo Yi's favourite restaurant, Au Petit Salut, on Wednesday. It's a cozy little restaurant that, as described by the restaurant itself, exudes a sophisticated, yet warm, homely ambience. Couldn't have described it any better myself really (:
Zuo Yi was treating both Ashvin and I as a belated birthday gift for the both of us haha. Thanks again dude! It was an awesome meal!
Having said that, you could have inferred that the food was indeed quite divine haha. We ordered a set lunch each, and on top of that got smoothies and a plate of foie gras to share.
Pan seared duck foie gras served with baby spinach, red onions and Xeres vinegar. Yummilicious. Sinful though ;o
For starters, we each had escargot heh. It was my first time eating escargot actually, and it was good! A little like eating scallop/clam/random shellfish, but without any weird smells haha.
Half dozen baked Burgundy snails with tomato and garlic butter
For the main course, I had a:
Pan seared onglet beef served with confit shallots and french fries

Red wine braised beef cheeks, carrots, mushrooms and parsley potatoes
Lastly, Zuo Yi had:
Crispy filo pastry filled with ragout of braised duck, mushrooms purée and salad. Yummy!
I'm lazy to post more pics, but basically for dessert I had Crème brulée infused with fresh Madagascar vanilla beans, Zuo Yi had Choux buns filled with vanilla ice cream in warm chocolate sauce, sliced almonds, while Ashvin had Passion fruit “Blanc-Manger”. The pics are all on FB haha.

And just like that, the two of them are returning to the states already. Ashvin this sunday morning (as usual, at a really obscene time), and Zuo Yi on the night, barely 24 hours after Ashvin. It's been about two to three weeks since they were back, but I still wonder where all the time has gone! Nonetheless, I enjoyed the few outings we have had so far since you two were back. Uni might have brought us new friends, while we also have awesome friends of our own, but at the end of the day this friendship is irreplaceable. All the best this coming semester alright. See you guys in the summer! As in your summer. It's summer every day here! Not to make you more depressed about the cold weather there though =p
Went to recce Aloha Changi Chalet on Thursday with Yong Sheng, Shermaine, Sj, Deren, Jiayuan, Wax and Amanda. We met up at Tampines 1, and for once I can wake up late for a FOC meeting haha. Anyway, we made our way down to Aloha Changi by bus 29, then we explored the bungalows there for a bit, before we made our way down to Changi beach, while timing our walking. After reaching the beach, we checked out the beach and the surrounding park area, sat down at a shelter to discuss stuff, had lunch at the food centre, and then went home. Mission accomplished! We've still not decided whether to go ahead with Aloha Changi or revert back to NSRCC, however. Hopefully I can find some cash sponsorship soon!
Back to work today, for what is my last day of work. On paper la. Haha I think I will be returning during the semester to continue my work on the IPAC study though! It's a really exciting project haha as I have mentioned before in previous blog posts ;o
Sister coming back from her Taiwan holiday later! Hope she bought nice stuff for me (:
