Back to normal blog posts ;o
Went for countdown at East Coast Park with Zuo Yi and his CPC friends and Zirui, CK and YJ. I did something that was, in short: ![]() Haha. I forgot to bring my wallet out ;o That aside, we wanted to go to Timbre, but by the time we got there no more seats were available, and besides the music wasn't too good; the band that was playing sounded like a poor version of Fall Out Boy, no offense. So we walked back to the MacDonald's area to (I think it was) Beach Hut, where Aaron's teacher was playing. This was a much more entertaining band. The ambience here was more relaxing and laid-back, juxtaposed against the hustle and bustle outside the pub where it was really crowded. We got a jug each of Mojito and Long Island Iced Tea, and sat around to joke and catch up with one another, or simply soaked in the atmosphere. Soon the clock struck twelve, and we drank a toast to the new year, while watching the people outside play with foam and the usual stuff. The ships near the coast fired flares that lit up the night sky, which we used as a background to take photos against. Then after the euphoria of reaching 2010 died down we decided to go for supper =p Unfortunately Mac was flooded with people, so we could not fulfill our desire of having a Big Mac meal, and we ended up walking to the area near Zy's place for supper. We wanted to have Bak Chor Mee then, but since they had this EPIC FAIL method of doing business where they have a huge kitchen but only one person preparing the food, we were informed that our orders will take a whopping 45 minutes to prepare. So we boycotted them and went to Macau Cafe, where Zy and I once again indulged in our Spicy Salt and Pepper Pork Chop Rice haha. Slept at 4am, then woke at 9 plus to go to Hong Yi's place. CK and Zirui were there as well, and we played tennis! Haha that was my first time ever playing tennis! My standard of play? Well, that's gonna be the third time in this single post that I'm going to use the phrase EPIC FAIL. Haha it was hard to estimate the amount of strength to use! Never mind I shall play more often and improve ;o After that we walked to Blk 800+ to have our lunch, before going back to Hong Yi's place. We played cards, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, more cards, some Nintendo DS, some FIFA, and still more cards and CoD:MW2 haha. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was incredibly addictive! We took turns playing the missions and had a good laugh at each other's failings in the various missions, or actually we mainly laughed at Zirui haha. And boy, were there a huge variety of missions. There was one where we had to get past a bridge while constantly under attack from enemy forces, and we laughed at how I failed the mission several times because I was too garang, while we also laughed at how Zirui failed the mission several times because.... well he was just fail haha. There was another mission (quite unrealistic mission really) where we play the role of a soldier who has to fight his way out of a heavily defended urban area. We laughed at how CK used a sub-machinegun to try to take out an armoured vehicle (needless to say it was impossible!). Then there was one map we spent a lot of time on, which was one where we play the role of a soldier who had to make it to a checkpoint a few kilometres away, evading snipers and taking out patrolling soldiers along the way. We laughed at Zirui because he made terrible progress in the game; he would leave his hiding spot, notice an enemy sniper, and immediately let out a shriek and shrink back into his hiding spot =p There was another scenario where we had to sneak around stealthily and plant explosives on various checkpoints, but we always ended up alerting the entire enemy force for one reason or another. Anyway, it was nice to have such an outing for a change haha. It's nice and relaxing and we barely had to spend any money except to pay for our lunch! And yet we had so much fun (: We were supposed to play a match on Saturday, but it got cancelled once again due to unforseen circumstances. And we had our full first team available too! This time it was our opponents who had something that cropped up and therefore could not play. Met up with Weiquan, William, Wee Hung, Daniel and John to go to our former CSM's (currently Warrant Andrew Wong) place in the evening, to celebrate the 1st month of his newborn child. We first met up at Yishun and we got a baby tram haha. We got cheated by the taxi driver who brought us one incredibly big round around Yishun town because we had no idea which part of Yishun Ring Road was his house. To be honest I'm pretty honoured to be invited by him haha. After all he said he had a 700-strong contact list, before narrowing it down to perhaps a 100 to invite. I guess he was always pretty fond of our batch of specs (: Anyway we sat around and enjoyed the sheer idiocy of one another as per any other army outing haha. Jian Wen's jokes were as usual terrible, William was completely ridiculous (haha he even called CSM "uncle" at one point!), and we continued to poke fun at After that Weiquan had to go to the airport to send his friend off, but somehow Jian Wen, William, Daniel and I decided to tag along, with the original intention of having Popeye's. But we ended up playing catching (haha yeah, you read that right. Though we played it veeeery subtly instead of running around like crazed children) and playing on the trolley! Like I said, sheer idiocy haha. After Weiquan sent off his friend and he joined us again, he mentioned that his friend asked if we were 17 or 19 years old! Haha I guess playing on the trolley isn't quite typical of 21 year-olds ;o Invited Zuo Yi and Ash over to my place to have lunch on Sunday aka yesterday. My mum whipped up some delicious food including lala with really imba sambal sauce haha. Pity Ashvin was having a fever that day and couldn't indulge in the food! Next time when you return to Singapore I'll make it up to you alright =p Went to school after that to join up with the Raffles Hall Sepak Takraw team for the first time. Haha that was my second new sport learned in, like, three days. I used a combination and soccer and chapteh (however you spell that) skills to play. I played in a proper game at the end of the training session, playing the role of the killer (the other two roles are the Tekong and setter respectively) and got trashed 20-7 haha. I think overall I did better than tennis though, and the captain boosted my ego considerably by saying that I did quite well for someone at his first training session =p By the end of the day I could juggle the ball for a maximum of 14 times, though I still needed to work on my ball control. I was also able to do passes with a teammate (I think his name was Kiat or something! Haha I'm terrible with names!) for quite long without breaking the chain of passes. My week of sporting action continued with badminton with the Pharmers this morning at Mount Faber SAFRA. After the session, Shermaine, Sj and Angela showered and left first, then YB left too, while Deren, Gareth, Reuben, Zhi Xue and I went to have lunch at the market place opposite. Then after that it was off to work for me (:
