Watched soccer at Zuo Yi's place on Saturday, and Ashvin was his usual late self haha. It felt good to be with my two best friends again! There was a lot of catching up to do (:
After watching Chelsea and Birmingham play out a draw, we went for supper at Macau Cafe, where we whacked the Spicy Pork Chop rice (French Toast for Ash though, due to his sore throat), and spicy squid with our usual Iced Mango Pomelo. Yum! Went back to watch more soccer, but eventually a combination of lack of sleep, fatigue, jetlag and Liverpool's boring play made us go to bed before long. Before I know it I was back at Zuo Yi's place, this time with Zirui, on Sunday night haha. We watched a thoroughly entertaining game of soccer with Arsenal winning 3-0 at Villa, then we played an equally entertaining session of Wii Tennis. Zirui was epic fail haha, while I went two sets down against Zuo Yi before winning the next three to triumph haha. Zirui was epic fail again, and I failed to repeat my heroics in my next game and was epic fail against Zuo Yi =p Work as usual as a new week began. We finally cleaned up almost all of our data, and on Tuesday we presented our data to Prof Ng, the biostatistician. Even we've only ran some primary analyses of the data it felt rewarding to see that the work I've done was going somewhere. Here's hoping that the findings will find its way into a medical/pharmaceutical journal sometime in the near future (: Dinner with the "buffet gang" minus Kwee Haan who was unfortunately down with Chicken Pox! Actually it wasn't really a gang haha because in it was just Deren and Belinda. There was also YB and Alfred. We ate Ajisen. Initially wanted to order my usual Volcano Ramen, but instead I opted to try the Spicy Octopus Dry Ramen. It was pretty good, but when the food first came I thought they had gotten my order wrong. The octopus was in tiny fragments, like the minced meat in bak chor mee haha, so I had thought there wasn't any octopus at all! After dinner we went to eat xiao long bao at I think it was Imperial Treasures. It felt like watching an episode of Survivor haha as we "oooohhh", "ahhhhh" and "omg"-ed in between superlatives. It was really delicious (: Celebrated Prasad's birthday yesterday evening at Seoul Garden with the 30 SCE Alpha peeps, namely Joon Hong, Weiquan, Daniel and John. And we made a new discovery! Or rather John told us about it but we were highly skeptical until we saw it with our own eyes haha. Apparently, atap chee literally explodes when you try to barbecue it. Our first try saw the atap chee flop over meekly on the bbq pan, but the next one exploded and disappeared, while the next few flew onto our plates and all over the place haha. FOC meeting at King Albert Park today. Carin and Amanda's games sound really exciting! But my excitement about FOC has been dampened somewhat by the fact that I'll miss the last day of the camp because of a fateful sms I received while I was at Seoul Garden yesterday. Something that began with: "You have one new message from Mindef notification service." Basically, reservist from 1 to 16 July. 16 frickin' days ):
