Sunday was spent unpacking my field pack and duffel bag, then packing my personal stuff for Xperience Pharmacy Camp '09, which lasted from 14 to 16 Dec.
I didn't have that much sleep during reservist, and Xpharm exacerbated my fatigue haha. I slept at 3am the first night, and 4.30am on the second night, each time having a Fillet O Fish meal for supper. Anyway, the camp was a good experience, no pun intended. I was still tuning myself back to civilian life after a week of ICT, while I also had no experience of being an OGL. It was weird trying to break the ice haha because all it felt like was that I was talking to myself. Whacko was epic fail because no one could hear who was calling who in the din that the entire group of campers was making, and Oom-chi-chi (or whatever you call that) also didn't work out too well either! Before I knew it we were all brought back to LT33 for the talk by Prof Chan with the ice still pretty much unbroken haha. Both days were pretty similar in terms of programme, with lectures before lunch, lab sessions after lunch, and games in the evening. I only attended the second day's lab, and now I understand how our Lab Techs feel when we were doing our practicals haha. Granted, this is their first time doing such tasks, but there's no reason for the benches to resemble war zones =p Haha fingerprints with charcoal all over the weighing balance, raspberry syrup dripped all over the bench surface, and capsule bodies strewn all over haha. The first night's game was Pharmapoly, which was a complicated but interesting game named after Pharmacy and Monopoly, but played quite differently from Monopoly. The main concept was still the same, and that was to monopolize the entire "market" that was the game board. We were to build up market share and earn revenue by playing games and participating in various tasks. The second night's game was Famashi Case Files Chapter 2, which required each OG to travel around Science to gather clues from our very outstanding actors, to solve the mystery behind a woman's death (fictitious of course), after which each OG is required to act out a skit to re-enact the events which led to the woman's death. I guess this second game was the event that actually finally bonded the OG together properly, because for once discussions involved everyone and everyone was keen to give their input. Better late than never (: We stayed over at Sheares Hall for the two nights of the camp. It felt like a mix between staying in bunk in camp and staying in a hotel while on holiday. Each of us got a single room, which was pretty well furnished. It was necessary to draw the blinds since the street lamp was almost right outside the window so it was too bright to sleep, but the blinds were sort of noisy and they fluttered about and made creepy shadows in the middle of the night haha. Other than that, the room was nice! It feels really cozy and nice to relax in the room all on your own (: That being said, I've gotten my place in Raffles Hall! Haha hope it'll feel as awesome as it was staying in Sheares Hall in these two days! Played soccer with the Raffles Hall team against Kent Ridge straight after Xpharm ended on Wednesday. Unfortunately it rained, and we had to start the game half an hour late, and on a disgustingly wet pitch. The game started off well, but it was clear that KR were superior on the ball while we relied more on quick counter attacks. I played decently until the sole of my right boot came off, and Ram had to come on as a substitute for me. While I did come back on in the second half, black tape failed to secure my sole properly and I tore the entire sole off to continue playing. Didn't play particularly well as a result. All in all, we did well to take the chances that came our way, eventually playing to a 3-2 victory. So yay us (: Went back to work on Thursday, and attended AH Pharmacy's X'mas Party '09. There were quite a few new staff which we didn't know, so Yu Heng, Hui Ping and I mostly kept to ourselves haha. Had some friendly banter with some people though including Ray and Geraldine. Merry X'Mas in advance everyone (:
