Watched Where Got Ghost? on Wednesday the 26th. We had initially planned to watch G.I. Joe, which was long belated, but since it's long belated the time slots for the show were all at obscene timings like midnight, and that's not gonna be possible on a weekday, so we decided to support local talent. The show was made up of three parts, each a different mini-story. The second one was more memorable, perhaps because it's army stuff and army stuff is always memorable, or maybe because it was the creepiest out of the three, though it's mostly not really creepy. The third was something like a sequel to Money No Enough 2, and much like MNE2 it's kind of heartwarming. The twist towards the end is interesting enough, certainly.
Speaking of G.I. Joe, we did manage to catch it, but only on Friday. GV Marina was kind enough to screen it at 6.50pm, and we were diligent enough to spot this timeslot, so off we went to catch the show. It was good! I don't know about others, but I view action films as what they are: action films. Which means other expectations such as an outstanding storyline are thrown out of the window and I sit back to enjoy the film for its adrenaline-pumping scenes. Back tracking a little in time, I went for the NUS Scholarship Welcome Reception on Saturday the 29th. The session was meant for us to mingle with fellow scholars, but starting conversations with random strangers just for the sake of starting conversations seem a little contrived and there were often awkward silences. It did get better later on, and when the Vice Provost starting talking to us about army (you see, when males gather somehow this topic will always crop up) we talked a lot more =p After the mingling we went for a Jazz Performance by the NUS Jazz Band. I'm not much of a Jazz person, and in fact I'm about the least artistically-inclined person on the planet but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I liked their renditions of Jamiroquai's Canned Heat and I-forgot-who's Sway just to name a few. Or just two actually. I don't know the names of the other performances D: Went to collect our Race Pack for today's Yellow Ribbon Prison Run (which I will talk about in a bit) the next day, the 30th. It was at Toa Payoh Sports Hall, and after the collection we went to Cathay to watch The Proposal. It's somewhat chick-flick-ish, and their eventual falling-in-love wasn't quite convincing, but there's plenty of witty humour (and some not so witty) which I really dig, so I liked the film as well. Hey, I'm easy to please (: And today was the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run. We started near Changi Village and ended up at Changi Prison (no, literally). It was only 5.8km, but for I guess 10km is still a little out of my league at the moment. I took I think slightly less than half an hour to complete the run, but I'm not sure of the exact timing since we started about half an hour late (terrible queue for the shuttle bus from Expo) and the clock was at the hour mark when I passed the finishing line. After that, we went to collect our baggage, but for some reason the organisers lost my bag. Thankfully, after some time and some worrying and some decision to not worry because it doesn't help things anyway, they found my bag. There was another poor person whose bag was still not found when I collected my bag, and there was another minor screwup when the emcee announced that my bag hasn't been found yet when actually the other person's bag was the one which hasn't been found. Oh well. I guess such an event can be quite a logistical nightmare, so I won't blame them. I hope the other dude found his bag in the end though :/ Played soccer with the Raffles Hall people on Wednesday. It was meant to be something like a trial, but I guess we're in because they need us there anyway due to the severe shortage of players. As a result of the soccer I missed the Rag Celebratory Dinner at Sun Bistro, but I did drop by while everyone had already left or were leaving and got a plate of food before they cleared everything =p Played another soccer match yesterday with my team, at Broadrick Sec School. This was my 12th game and the team's 13th game, and while I've lost track of our record I haven't lost track of my own records. It was my first game not on the wings but as a lone striker, and I played kind of badly, missing two sitters. Nonetheless, I scored two goals to put my total tally to double digits, aka 10 goals in 12 games (: Still, if I had taken those chances, we could have won the game, but instead we had to settle for a 3-3 draw ):
