Hectic weekend! A flurry of activities flooded my plans for the weekend and put my prioritizing powers to work. In the end events which I had planned for previously took precedence over more last minute arrangements, but they were nonetheless important ones so sorry to the people whom I've failed to meet up with ):

Went to Vivo for dinner on Friday evening, with special thanks going Doreen for the lift. After dinner we spent more than an hour at Daiso, going through the incredibly wide array of products and purchasing a few nifty ones like a SD-card case, a mini calculator, and cute bottles of green tea. Makes me wonder why I've never paid attention to the store in all my previous trips to Vivo, because it's a pretty awesome place.

Saturday morning was the prerelease event for Magic's latest set, Alara Reborn. The cards I opened were pretty... well, far from good, I must say. I didn't manage to get even a single Mythic Rare card. The deck I assembled was too lightweight, leading to several straight losses. As a result I left the event feeling rather unsatisfied compared to previous release and prerelease parties. Oh well. At least the promo foil looks pretty awesome, despite it playing less awesome-ly.

Straight away after the prelease, we grabbed a quick bite from Mac and headed down to Siglap Sec (yes, curiously in Pasir Ris. And you wonder why Pasir Ris Sec is in Tampines, Changkat Changi sec is in Simei. Just kidding. I'm sure we know the reasons) for a field soccer match. Believe it or not, our team was late, and when half an hour had already elapsed, we had no choice but to start the match with 10 men because we didn't have enough to make up a team.

In any case, this match was tougher and more thrilling than the match we had a few weeks back. Our opponents were quickly off their blocks and took an early lead against us. We fought back and I equalised through a tap in, as the ball from the flank evaded one of our teammates and two of their defenders and bounced to me. However, they quickly regained the lead, scoring to bring the score to 2-1 in their favour. The match continued for a while with that score, until Daniel popped up with an equaliser to bring the match to 2-all. The match continued to be rather intensive, with both sides fiercely contesting each ball and gathering several fouls in the process, though there was little malice involved. Finally, we took the lead, with me rushing in to tap in a cross from Darren, my momentum carrying me into the goal together with the ball =p
We scored a fourth later on, but they scored a third to narrow down our two-goal cushion Thankfully, we endured several tense moments to keep this lead and end the game on the winning side, with a final score was 4-3. Great match =D

And then I rushed home, took a nice bath, and was off again, this time to meet up with Zirui and co to go to Hong Yi's place for his 21st birthday celebration. For once we were not at his house for a bbq =p
In any case, it was a simple but cozy affair. There were any scripted events like games to get everyone involved, we were just left to lounge around and mingle. All in all it was nice and relaxing and I had a good time catching up with my S25 classmates (:

Last stop of the day was Zuo Yi's place. Watched the second half of Hull vs Liverpool there, from where I had left off when I left Hong Yi's place. After the match, we went down to Macau Cafe for a "challenge" we made plans for a few weeks ago. Basically, we brought along a scientific calculator to generate random numbers. We would then have to order the menu items corresponding to these numbers. That was how we ended up with ridiculous drinks like Zuo Yi's tasteless sago drink (Snowy Fantasy), my incredibly not-worth-it-cuz-can-be-bought-in-pri-sch-for-half-the-price Ribena drink (Lemon Ribena), Jun Yan's peculiar plum juice (Homemade Plum Juice), and Ashvin's.... well, his drink was quite good actually. Some mango and coconut ice blended thingy. The second "challenge" we had was to order the delicious salt-and-pepper pork chop rice, with extra chilli and pepper, and finish the bowl without having to drink anything to relieve the effects of the extra spicy taste. That we did manage to achieve, so we upped the stakes but getting all os us to chew on a chilli padi, then place it on the tip of the tongue for one another to see. The effects? Well... let's just say four men crying while eating supper isn't really a common sight =p

And that sums up my busy weekend. Gosh it's nearly the weekday already... time to sleep. ZZzzz.
