Met up with Weiquan, Tiny, Wee Hung, Joon Hong and Prasad yesterday to go for the Shards of Alara (a set of cards in Magic the Gathering) Release Party at Pasir Ris, this being the second time Weiquan, Joon Hong and I visited a release party.

We reached the shop at 9.15, and although the event was supposed to start at 9 in the morning, there was no sign of the organiser or any other players in particular. Turns out the venue has been switched to a function room at East Vale, but the website wasn't updated, and we weren't there when they announced the change in venue during the prelaunch party a week ago. Anyway, we didn't know that at the point in time, and I was pretty ticked off. The rest were disappointed, but nonetheless undaunted, for they purchased a torunament pack and three booster packs each anyway and proceeded to play in our own draft tournament at the food court at White Sands Shopping Mall. Before that, I left my contact number with the shop owner to contact me should the organiser turn up later away. Weiquan decided to buy a second tournament pack, and therefore I was able to join in despite me not following them in buying the cards. Later on, the organiser called me up to inform me that there was an afternoon session, and that was when we knew of the change in venue. I dropped by with Prasad and made the purchase of a tournament pack and the three boosters, but because I bought it at the launch party, I was able to get the limited edition event card. And boy, was I lucky. Whereas the others all got at most 1 mythic rare card out of the possible 6, I got 3.

My luck extended to the soccer session I had with Ying Hui and co at the Tampines Millenium Court later in the afternoon, where we were joined by two small kids and two Malay boys. I managed to score quite often, mostly with my left-foot (I'm right-footed), and almost all of them were efforts which went just that little bit out of reach from the keeper.

Good to have such a nice day where everything went my way, for lately it seems everything has been going awry in my life.
