Past two days in camp were pretty relaxing, thanks to the fact that the men weren't around and that we specialists were not required for the map planning Exercise that was ongoing. We played Magic in bunk and Foosball at the Mess as usual, but it feels almost a little sad doing so for me because this two days are one of my last few days doing this at 30 SCE, now that we're flying off to Thailand next week, after which I'll be relocating myself to Nee Soon for my course. This is the part of army life that I'll miss the most (:
Practically all of us 3SGs went to play Laser Quest at Home Team NS yesterday. Laser Quest is basically a real-life version of first person shooter games. It's a laser-tag game played indoors, in a room with many walls forming a maze-like arena. Each player is equipped with a vest, a laser gun, both of which come with infrared sensors. Each game consists of up to 5 players per team, and the objective is to "shoot" your opponents while avoiding getting shot yourself. Places which can get shots registered are both shoulders, the chest, the back, as well as the front and sides of the weapon. And. It was fun! Each game was really hectic and adrenaline-filled. Cheok, Weiquan, John and I formed a team, and we played two games in total, joined in the later game by Joon Hong. We won both games each time. The first game saw Weiquan having the highest score, followed by me in second, while I was ousted from my second spot by Hong Jun of the opposing team (which also features the hilarious William and Daniel) in the second game. Somehow each team would end up adopting certain tactics after playing together for a while, without much verbal agreement. Our team ended up holding our ground on a corner of the arena, with Cheok and I forming a pair and Weiquan and John forming the other. Sometimes Cheok would move forward and I would follow walking backwards, covering our six. There were other occasions when Wq and John would venture out of our makeshift base area to take down a person or two (or mostly Moey, in the second game :P) and dash back to safety while Cheok and I ambushed anyone coming round the corner after them. In any case, Wiki has an article about Laser Quest, so anyone interested can find more info there haha. ![]() Company outing tomorrow, then a long weekend, then some hectic packing, and I'm off to Thailand on Thursday. I'm kinda nervous about it actually :S
