Tuesday was SAF Day. It felt like enlistment day once again as we all recited the SAF Pledge heh. Following the morning's CO parade we attended the actual SAF Day Parade at SAFTI in the afternoon. We were invited because we had won the best Combat Engineer Unit, for the first time in... well, for the first time. We had won other awards before, but even then the last award that we won was well over 30 years ago, in the 1974/1975 work year to be exact. It was a pretty grand affair reminiscent of National Day Parades. The drill was excellent and the funfair-ish military band tunes were once again fun to listen to heh.

And. It was bookout after that! Yes, I'm clearing my off days all the way from Wednesday to next Monday. The feeling is greeeeeat aha. Hopefully I don't get too much of a culture shock returning to camp next week to face the harsh reality of having to go for a 5 day 4 night outfield Exercise immediately after my extended break from the military ;o

Went to Nee Soon Camp for my pre-course briefing for my upcoming course in September together with Nicholas, Prasad, Pang Lek and Tiny. We bumped into Benjamin, Wei Cheng and Keerthi along the way, and it was nice seeing them again. They're my CESC course mates by the way, and they remained as instructors to the following course, which made Prasad, Pang Lek and Tiny their trainees heh. Going into the office spelled doom as we immediately got bombarded and suan-ed by the staff present. Warrants Ben, Chew, and Jack were all there to poke fun at us.
Went to Expo's John Little sale with my mum today, since she had forty dollars worth of JL vouchers to expend. Since it was a weekday afternoon, the place, which was usually incredibly crowded on weekends, was practically empty. We shopped for lots of snacks and some clothing, and managed to rack up a receipt of 80, which mean the vouchers were insufficient. Oops heh.

I've got a lame habit nowadays - paraphrasing (in my mind that is) phrases by making a phrase much longer and sound much more complicated heh. Finding a place where two walls converge to rest my tired limbs - relac one corner. To take the rest afforded by an extended period of suspension from normal bodily functions - to go to sleep. And at the moment, I'm enjoying the sensory perception of vibrations in the air that puts in harmony rhythm and melody, aka I'm enjoying listening to music. I'm addicted to Mraz ;o

That aside, I lapsed into my dejectedness once again yesterday. I know I'm acting really stupid by wallowing in self pity and whatnot but I guess sometimes life just gets you down. I went for another of my long emo walks which I seem to be taking quite often nowadays because staying at home just made me feel like I'm suffocating in my own thoughts. Boy, did I walk. Four hours took me to various parts of Pasir Ris, then back to Tampines, to Simei, to AHS, and to 85 market, then all the way back home. I felt like confiding in someone, but I hated confiding in people. After a while you just feel like you're being a crybaby and being stupid and are nothing more than a burden to your confidant. Besides, confiding in someone only takes the pain away very temporarily. I just told myself "Everyone's busy leading their own lives; so who has time for yours?". Recalling some in-camp events concerning my platoon's men also further disillusioned me. People can be such close friends one moment, but things can change in the blink of an eye. Petty squabbles, bitter arguments ensue, and no one recalls the wonderful memories they've shared before any more.

Some of the sadness just spilled over as anger and I kinda vented my anger on a concerned friend. Thanks for being understanding yeah. I'm sorry :)

And. Eunice Ng! Thanks, if you get to read this. Haha hearing from you after so long was unexpected. This is the second time I've felt this depressed, but on both times friends from whom I've not heard would surprise me by messaging me. Eerie coincidences? I dunno, but I guess it's God's way of telling me I'm not alone.

I guess I'm feeling better again. I'll do my best not to crumble emotionally again.
