My outfield training this week was cut towards the end due to the sudden freezing of all outfield and physical activities imposed after the deaths of two servicemen who collapsed during their respective trainings. In any case, it was a long time since our last outfield training, so I'm thankful that my section did fine for the various tasks. We might not have excelled or set any records, but at least we did okay for everything.
Started playing more Magic the Gathering again this week in camp, with Teck Chye, Prasad and Tiny reviving Weiquan's and my interest in the trading card game. I love multiplayer, free-for-all games. It's just so fun playing all the mind games, doing all the strategising to try to emerge as the sole winner at the end of the usually long and sometimes dreary games. Like when Prasad decided to play a certain card, and I said "are you sure you want to do that? I'm going to give you a choice. I can explain the effects of this action to you, but you cannot choose to not play the spell anymore once I've done that". He didn't play the card in the end. It would have disrupted my plans, yes, but it would have disrupted his as well. But I only wanted to save myself and that I did, so i guess my mind games worked haha. On other occasions I would just pretend to scrutinise the cards I hold in my hand whenever someone plays any card that seemed like a threat to the other players. Sometimes they'll get fearful and decide not to play the card instead, buying me more time =p It's also interesting to note each player's style. I like to hold my cards with me to give myself more options, while presenting less of a threat so that people do not target me first, but I guess they saw through that after the first few games in which I did well and started going for me first by default in following games lol. John was the "I don't care I just want to at least take one person down" player. Tiny was similar. He would recklessly support other players to take out the other players, whether he gained from it or not. Went for dinner after booking out on Friday at Siglap. Had Pizza Hut first, then Häagen-Dazs ice-cream to eat as we walked. And just now I went for dinner just now at 85. Bak Chor Mee was nice haha. I haven't had that stall's bak chor mee for ages. Had a long talk after dinner. The area around Ahs was always kinda peaceful and quiet around this time of the day, and today wasn't any different. Thanks for the talk, and thanks for everything in fact =)
