Had a very successful exercise this week. Due to some complications with platoon 1 (who were the first platoon to conduct the exercise), we got to do the exercise in the day instead of executing it at night. Which means a hundredfold increase in visibility, but likewise for the heat. In fact, we did it in sweltering heat. Nevertheless, we did everything on time, and all phases were executed smoothly. All the effort seemed worth it when I see my men laughing with me upon the end of the mission and I hear the platoon shouting "GOOD DAY" in the 5-tonner heh. I'm proud of them.

Somehow I still worry too much though. When we flopped at the previous exercise, I kept thinking of how things went wrong. Now that we have succeeded in a mission, I'm wondering if it was because we did it by day instead of by night and therefore were aided by the increased visibility, etc. I think I should just learn to accept end results and not linger too long on the process =/

On a lighter note, went to Clarke Quay with a rojak group of friends (and potential friends) to watch the Man Utd v. Arsenal game. There was Jun Yan and Ash, Zuo Yi and his cousin, as well as Zirui, Winfred and a couple others. Save for Jun Yan, Ashvin and Zuo Yi's cousin, the rest were all colleagues at CMPB. Jun Yan is a combat-fit clerk, Ash is an Air Force clerk, while Zuo Yi's cousin is a Signals spec. Makes me a little bitter knowing that I'm the only one in the group who has a shiong vocation =p

Apparently I was late, but Zy was later, and one of his friends was a lot later (in fact, he watched a mere 10 minutes of the match. Kinda pointless, if you ask me). We ditched our originally intended location to watch the match for Brewerkz, but it was also packed to the brim. Nonetheless we shamelessly grabbed seat by seat until we were all somewhat comfortably seated at the counter, watching the TV screen intently. Eventually (aka halftime, when our attentions were finally diverted from the screen) we got ourselves some food and some beer.
Mmm, golden ale. The match was entertaining, but so were the people around me. For instance... Zy the Arsenal fan seemed determined to outdo the numerous Man Utd fans around him, the strangers behind us included. The waiter delivered our food just as Arsenal scored an equaliser to make the scores even at 1-1 and hilariously shouted "Potato Skins! Yay Arsenal ahahahah...".
