Our course is drawing to a close. Exercise Transformer, our summary exercise involving all the Field Engineers, Armoured Engineers, Mechanized Engineers and the Engineer Plants is finally over. The Exercise was pretty tough, more so because I was the deployment Platoon Sergeant. Doing reports past lights out timing the night before the exercise, working throughout the night without even sitting down, much less catching some sleep, and clearing obstacles through the second night. Three nights without adequate rest, three days of outfield activities, and now it's all over. The significance?

I am a Singapore Combat Engineer Specialist!

That was what they made us say as we knocked it down in the parade square for no apparent reason when we returned to the Coy line on Friday afternoon, and it was a proud moment for all of us as we are now officially Third Sergeants, though we're still trainees and the course only ends on Sep 4, when we will have our graduation ceremony.

...and now it's time to move on.
