Time still passed slowly for my second week at ETI, but not unbearably slow. Highlight of the week: my first try at acting! Heh I was (once again) randomly arrowed to do the video, actually. And for once, a trainee was told to take his time to perform his tasks instead of being rushed, simply because everything had to be caught on video. We had to do several "scenes" several times as well.
And what was the video about? Well it was basically a video to show how one sets up an Anti-tank mine, and, in the subsequent part of the video, how one does a search for mines, and how one can safely remove a mine once it has been detected. K just kidding, that wasn't the highlight of the week. Neither was it me falling sick. The highlight of the week was our demolition live firing II, preceded of course by live firing I. Funny how some people sound so sure of themselves when discussing how to perform demolition, and yet these are the people who shiver with fright when handling the demolition materials, particularly the detonators =p I was the firer for one of the circuits which we set up. It was definitely thrilling to ignite the circuit and run for my life, literally. And it was really satisfying to hear the resounding BOOM about a minute after ignition, which meant that my charges had gone off successfully. Live firing II was more fun, in that we fired more powerful charges, such as the improvised timber cutting charge known as the sausage charge, which made the cut treetrunk fly like 20 metres away. More powerful charges include 10kg bags of TNT, which produced a very noticeable shockwave which stops your heart for a beat upon detonation. We got scolded for shouting "woah!!!" upon the detonation of the charges instead of doing what we were supposed to do, which is to continue counting =p
