Back from my second field camp, a gruelling sequel to the first field camp I just had last week. This field camp involved several battle courses where we were tested on all the things we had learned over the past few section training sections. Section quick attack, immediate assault, anti-sniper drill, anti-artillery drill, etc. Fun actually, but incredibly tiring. Especially since the LBV is heavier than ever.

As for sleeping conditions, they were still horrible. As opposed to sleeping on an open grass patch in a basha or sleeping in the training shed, we harboured among the thick undergrowth of the jungle. There wasn't even a clearing where we were supposed to sleep, so we had to stamp the ground and throw our field packs about to squash the plants and clear a space for laying out our groundsheet. In addition, where we used to get attacked by battalions and brigades of mosquitoes, the problem was much worse than before. We got attacked by divisions of mosquitoes, so much so that most of us slept a grand total of zero hours on the first night. Hands, palms, face, neck... all exposed parts were completely covered with bites, while covered parts of the body such as our feet, thighs, torso etc weren't spared either. Then we over-scratched and the bites started to bleed and swell even more. Horrible experience T_T

I guess two field camps in a row is too much for many of us. Many reported sick for various reasons, such as injuries, and got to return to sleep in the bunk and rest. Some cases... weren't so genuine, we speculated. By day 4, the fighting fit strength of the platoon was a mere 22 out of 39 people. I survived even though I had flu for the whole camp =)

We had our section live firing on day 4 as well. Basically it's fire and movement techniques, simulating a situation where an infantry section (7 men) are assaulting the enemy. I was randomly chosen to be the section commander, and it's a pretty cool experience, commanding 6 men into battle, furthermore we were all equipped with live rounds instead of blanks, which means it was much more dangerous. Any wrong action could result in a life lost. *shudders*

Took a cab home with Kenn and Xuanwei, and on the way we passed by the city. Beautiful night scene, really. Suddenly some part of me ached; I'm missing my past civilian life again. If only I could be enjoying this night scene, strolling along Marina Promenade with no need to rush to book in... *sigh*

Only reached home at 11pm last night, and today I'll need to book in early, probably by 5 or 6pm, to do my Navigational Data Sheet for tomorrow's navigation Exercise/test. I'm still having flu, still very very exhausted, and my physical and mental limits are now being pushed to near-maximum from the past two field camps, and yet I have no time to recover, for tomorrow we'll commence with Exercises Wanderer and Grand Slam at Tekong =/

Wish me luck - I need as much as I can get to pull through this climax to BSLC - this third and final field camp, a finale to our outfield training >.>
