Went to have lunch with HY, QH and CP on Thursday, before tagging along with them to a scholarships talk at SMU even though I have no intention to go to SMU. After that it was still too early, and I didn't want to go home and get out again so I rotted at MPH reading Science Fiction novels =/
After that I met up with Deslie and Zuo Yi to go to Beach Road. Des and Zy bought some useful stuff for BMT, while I wanted to buy a water bag because my water bag burst. Hmm sounds wrong. Well anyway they only sold those with a capacity of 2 litres, and so I left empty handed. Then Ashvin joined us and we had dinner at Billy Bombers followed by dessert at MOF. Mmmmm.

Received our post-BMT posting results yesterday, and I have been posted to SISPEC, the School of Infantry Specialists, to train as an Infantry Leader. Seems like quite a few people have gotten in there too.

And so I spent the whole day kaypo-ing about people's vocations and postings. I must say there are many many diverse vocations out there, including lots of weird ones. There are people posted to OCS to train to be officers, people posted to OCS to be clerks... some are going to the RSAF (good life man)... Hariz has been posted to Police, Kok Weng's a Flying Experience Trainee (???), and there are several combat medics around as well. Youzhen's an armoured infantry trooper, Xing Long's an infantry recce trooper, Hong Yi's a heavy arms tech, Hui Yong's a signaller. Then I visit online forums and there are Regimental Policemen, Air Defence Operators, Naval Combat Operators, and even Public Health Specs.

The people's posts are really amusing as well =p

One person's reply to the guy's enquiry about what the heck Publick Health Specs was:

congrats, you've kenna one of the very rare vocations in the SAF, only a handful are taken in this year ...
people will call you fogger and mosquito catcher from now on when they see you in their camp ... cos that's what you'll be ... Laughing
your job is to fog camps and training sites, and control mosquitos population mostly ... you'll also catch live mosquitos to test for malaria, etc ... at all hours of the day ... after ORD you'll become an infantry man ...

And apparently, if you get posted to an RSAF unit after you complete the Signals Course, you'll be living in heaven. This guy's post describes a typical day for people like that.

Morning 8am wake up, go down to office where your officer will ask you eat already not? If not go canteen makan till 9am.
Go to canteen at 8.30 am and it seems the entire unit is there. Eat with S1,2,3 or 4 till 9am then act like busy go back office read newspaper till 10am. After read paper go surf net and wait till 11.30 for lunch.
Go cookhouse eat 15min then go back to bunk to sleep till 1.30pm. Hang around till 3pm to go mess buy kopi then change to PT kit and play soccer. Play till 5pm, then your officer will dismiss you at the soccer court there.
After that, all will chiong to bunk and change to civvy to bookout. Be abit tatical and let the officers bookout first before you chiong out. Try to do so before arms clearing otherwise stuck for half an hour.
If you stay far away, then get a few friends to stay in and watch TV and/or play mahjong and/or eat steamboat. Got a fridge in bunk so can store food.
Otherwise, just go home and be sure to book in by 7.30am next day. Repeat till ORD.

Heh. Funny. Anyway, I just hope BSLC will be fine for me. I heard that a typical day is to wake up, camo on, draw arms, chiong sua, camo off, lunch at cookhouse, camo on, chiong sua again, camo off, clean arms. Oh man. I hate camo-ing.
