Second book out of my BMT. Training has got slightly tougher, but then again that's to be expected. Training is progressive after all.

And so, here's another summary of the events at camp ;o
  • Being sinful in the bunk, eating lots of snacks which are unhealthy. Oreo, Chips Ahoy... mmmm yum. In fact, we eat more snacks here than at home. Meng Hwee is the chief supplier, and is unofficially the "Mama shop ic" of our section =p
  • More marksmanship training; our final few sessions at the "arcade" before real rounds start firing on Monday, aka tomorrow. I did quite badly, because for some reason my eyes keep blurring and the prone unsupported position made my back hurt. Glad I passed though.
  • Stripping and cleaning our "wives" once again, and we had to try hard not to think the wrong thoughts as everyone made jokes with... other connotations.
  • Going to levels 4, 5, and the stairs to the roof for the first time. The sea view is beautiful from up there. In case you're wondering why I was there, the people who were unable to take part in strenght training had to clean up the mess the painters left behind. In case you're wondering why I skipped strength training, I injured myself when I was tripped during a run.
  • Our first full run through all the SOC's obstacles, albeit without our LBV and rifles. It was fun, especially jumping off the high ramp. Makes my kness hurt though
Book Out day was once again very much welcomed. Watched TV on the fastcraft and Pokemon was showing amidst a lot of static. Terrible reception. Went a little delirious again due to the joy of booking out. As usual, being a pessimist, I was singing along to the tune of "one more day to book in day" =p

Had my lunch with Meng Hwee, Jun Wei and You Zhen at Pasir Ris Mac. I must say the Mac outlet there has incredible business every weekend, as loads of soldiers have their meals there.
After lunch, I got home (<3) to change and rest up a little before meeting up with Ck and Zr at Orchard. As usual, the three of us were clueless as to what to do so we wandered around quite a bit, the two of them having their usual squabbles in between hearing about NS from me, before we finally settled down at Coffee Bean (mmm yum). After that we were again clueless as to what to do, so we went to sit down yet again, this time at Cine's basement food court.

After that I zipped off to Bugis for a severely belated Venture Scouts Farewell Party. Wei Xien was there, and Ms Wong joined us later, and that was it. No other seniors or juniors. I guess little planning went into this farewell party, unlike past farewell parties during our generation =p

Anyway Gerald, Zhi Heng, Xing Long, Enci, Zuo Yi, Ying Hui, Jun Yan, Hui Kiang, Kai Xiang and Deslie (did I miss anyone out?) turned up for the dinner, which was at (surprise) Seoul Garden. It was great to get together with all of them again, though the whole "family" wasn't there. We made a huge din as we dined, joked and laughed, and the neighbouring tables were either staring at us or listening to our conversations, but we didn't care. Those of us who had already enlisted shared army stories, many of which were hilarious and contributed to the din we were probably making. We also reminisced about old times, including Noga's "Panda Patrol", Deslie the "SPL", and water parades (with noodles and bandung).

Then we got a little more serious and discussed the "future" of the venture and scouts unit. Next week will be the biannual Pioneering Competition, and for probably the first time we were only entering in the side events, and not the main tower event. Just goes to show how the skills of the scouts have deteriorated. In addition, the current sec four batch were not interested in the Chief Commissioner's Award, which means that the sec ones have never seen the CCA Award before, and that the seven CCA recipients in our batch, yours truly included, might become the last few scouts in our unit history to get the award. The current Adult Leaders, Wei Xien included, had other commitments and it was time for new people to take over. Desmond is supposedly planning to come back, while Alaric and Owen are already taking charge, but apparently we're keen to get more Adult Leaders. Hmmm. We're now deciding if we should register ourselves as ASLs.

And... back to reality. Booking in soon, in about five hours. Next week will be a confinement period again, since we're having a field camp. Live Range tomorrow. IPPT Diagnostic Test on Friday. SIT Test after Chinese New Year.

*stress*

Wish me luck.
