Once again, one update to summarise the events of several days ;o
I suppose reading about mundane happenings in my life would be rather boring though =/

~Wednesday/December 27/2006/

We went clubbing for the first time, since I have finally turned 18. Yes, I went too, despite the fact that saying "clubbing" and "kheng yong" together in the same sentence doesn't sound too apt. We went to some place at St. James Power Station (best newcomer award among clubs, according to New Paper columnist Edwin Yeo). We were (almost) all "virgin clubbers", 5 of us (ck, zr, eunice, cp and I). Ash does club, but mostly in Australia. Shu the seasoned clubber was to join us later.

Anyway, I was kinda apprehensive at first, and even after we entered, the super loud music with the super-duper-bass shaking the very walls of the club, the bright and seizure-inducing lights and very very annoying smoke didn't make me feel much better. We found a place and got our drinks, which were several varieties of vodka and beer. Since it was Ladies' Night, the girls had five free drinks along with their free entry, while the guys had to pay 15 dollars for entry and a mere two drinks. Oh well. After we finished our first round of drinks the girls took off for the dance floor and ck dragged zr and I along.

So... Ash and Shu were like... ru2 yu2 de2 shui3 . Yeah, they could fit into the music perfectly and had the dance moves to match the music. Cp, despite it being her first time clubbing, got accustomed to it pretty quickly too. Ck wasn't too bad, since he was willing to "let go of himself". Zr was pretty much unmovable, but I didn't really fare better. Picture a wooden block shaped like a human, with two left feet, and very much crippled in both legs. Now shake that wood block a little and that would be me dancing. Like I said, not good.

In retrospect, however, it was definitely an enjoyable experience. It wasn't exceptionally fun, but it was indeed enjoyable. I'll need to thank Ashley for forcing down some drinks, if not I probably might not have finished those five drinks =p

Clubbed till about close to 3am, and we left the place all somewhat deaf and high, but nonetheless sober (I don't know about the rest, but at least I was sober). Went back to Eu's place, where we sat around, slacked and chatted a bit. In the ensuing Q&A thingy, I think I was very honest with my answers =)

Didn't get any sleep until Thursday evening. 35 hours without sleep!

Spent the day shuttling between Dhoby Ghaut, Somerset and Orchard. Started off the day meeting at PS, but we proceeded to Taka for a lunch buffet at Coca, some Chinese Restaurant. There was little variety in food though, so we basically stuffed ourselves full with chicken balls, fish balls, sotong balls, etc. Yeah, all sorts of balls. Not a very enticing assortment of food, thinking back now.

Wanted to get a room to play X-box at cine, but many rooms were full, and the games left for us to pick from were utterly horrible, and more than half the CDs were Rainbow Six anyway, so there wasn't much variety. Instead, we went back to Dhoby to play LAN. Heh yeah, even Eunice; she was probably the only female in the outlet. Played CS first, and I showed Zr why you must always look behind your back. <3 the knife =)
Oh and by the way, Eunice was pretty good ;o

Then we played FIFA 07, which was in fact the first time I've played that game. Ck was the seasoned pro at the game I guess, while Zr has played the game. First game against Ck (Me: Liverpool, CK: Arsenal) was a thrashing, and I lost 5-2, not unexpectedly. Second game (Me: Middlesbrough, Eu: Chelsea) against Eunice was once again a thrashing, only I wasn't at the receiving end (of a 7-1 scoreline) for once =p
Third and fourth games were against Zr, and I played Liverpool and Spain for the games while Zr played as Arsenal and England, respectively. 3-2 first, then a 2-1. Both victories =)

Zr went home for dinner, while we three remaining went to Cathay's Ben and Jerry's to have the delicious 6-scoop Merlionster. We ended up staying there for several hours. They were playing Yellowcard, and the songs were really great. Each song just got better and better. Next was a live band performance by some random band, and the songs they played were really good too. The vocalist wasn't that good though. I mean, he was very much decent, but there's a certain constipated quality in his voice which I don't particularly like. Still, it was somehow really cozy and comfortable to just like back on the cushions, listen to live music, and chill out with Eu and Ck.

Happy New Year's Eve's Eve, people =p

Went cycling in the morning with the usual people, at East Coast Park. Rented our bikes, and started cycling, out of East Coast Park even, and all the way to some place in Changi. We wanted to go on to Changi Village, but there wasn't any path for us to take except for the main road, so we had no choice but to turn back.

Lunch was at that huge-food-centre-place-with-lots-of-seafood. Can't remember the name of the place. The food was really great. We each ordered our own food, specifically, Laksa for Zr, Mee Goreng for myself, fried rice for Eu, and Hokkien Mee for Ck. Then we bought rojak, oyster omelette and satay, and shared the food all around. Yum yum. So much for exercising (ie cycling) earlier. I think we gained everything back, with interest ;o

Next we went bowling, followed by chilling out at Coffee Bean, before we left for dinner at Parkway, passing by VJC on the way where we reminisced (spelling?) for a bit. Dinner was a simple affair at Pastamania.

Then we went to MPH, where I (finally) got the fourth book in the Halo series, Ghosts of Onyx! The store has a misleading poster proclaiming that they were having a 20% discount. Unfortunately the fine print will tell you that it only applied to manga and graphic novels, so they might as well not have any discount. Buying the book completely drained my wallet =(

Reviewers had split opinions about the book though. The most popular complaint seemed to be the fact that the introduction of a new main character, Kurt, took attention away from the main protagonist, John-117. Kurt didn't survive the book either, so the reviewers were disappointed with how they were made to like a new character, just for that person to be killed off by the author at the end of the book. I shall read and formulate my own opinon about the book ^^;

*Yawn*

Yeah, and that brings an end to yet another day, albeit a wonderful day spent with you guys =)
2006 is drawing to a close, and I can't help but somewhat dread NS and everything that would come with the following year.
