Campfire ytd!!
Went to ahs @ 8 in the morning, and everyone was busy all the way until the evening. We had to make the costumes for the three little ducks and the cannibal king+hula dame, den we had to make the fake moon, and get all the other props. Den we had to complete the structures (the gateway for vehicles at the main gate, the bridge, the second gateway, as well as the stage, backdrop and sides of the stage). Benches n tables had to be moved, and the line for the Omega and the fire had to be set up. Thanks for all the hard work guys =D
Den At about 6.45pm, a few schs have arrived already. At about 7.00pm, we started the pre-campfire segment, and had song dedications and a Guess-the-Song game. Only at about 7.30pm did most of the schools and the guests arrived, so then the lights were dimmed and... I made my (solo) entry! Haha it felt great to face the large audience actually, and I was surprised that most stopped making noise to listen to my introduction of the campfire theme.
The VP's speech followed, n den it was time for Zh n Kx to appear. They introduced the schools and VIPs (n themselves), n it was time to open the campfire, meaning it's time to see the pyrotechnics display by the firemen (I mean, the people in charge of the fire). We watched the "shooting stars" representating passion, music n joy, and the crowd cheered. Den it was time for the "surprise", the omega itself. It was supposed to be a huge ball of flame, n it shld haf exploded when it hit the fire, but there were some complications n it was pretty funny in the end, cuz it juz fell into the fire n nothing much happened. The crowd was like : -_-", but we continued on anw lol.
The programme ran pretty well after that. Adiji Yell, Item 1 by Dunman High Scouts, den Scouting Light, BP Spirit. Den it was the first Game, the Boom Chika Boom Championship 2005! It was hilarious; the final contestants were so lame in the creative round. There was this Marcus guy with his -_-" sweeping the floor version, this guide with her "lightspeed" version (no doubt kx's suggestion since she was too stunned to do anything) that "was over before it started!", n the retro version by someone from ahs sjab, evelyn, n a cat high scout. The constipated version by a scout called zhe rui was the funniest to me, but in the end the winner was the retro version cuz they got the loudest applause.
After that is was New Friend Found, Thousand Legged Worm, Game 2: Do you have it?, then Gako, and Eepo+Eepo Banana, den it was Item 2 by RI 02, followed by Father Abraham. So far, so gd. Finally it was time for the stagehands to make their presence known, with the "skit" for Cannibal King n 3 Little Ducks, which were pretty cute n quite fun, though the ducks were trapped by the people running in front to dance, n one of the ducks even lost his beak in the chaos, lol. Den it was time for Game 3, Body Parts Game. First round went pretty well (forgot wad it was). Second round was unexpectedly awkward. It was "2 butts", n when we experimented ytd we were thinking of the scout n guide leaning on each other's backs, but they did the other way round n did it feet-to-feet in a leg-raiser kinda way, so... Well we juz finished the round asap. Den the final round of 1 foot was pretty chaotic too, but we got a clear winner easily who balanced on one foot while carrying the guide.
Next were Moonlight Bay n Silvery Moon, den the last Item by Ngee Ann Guides. After that, it was the Prize Presentation. Mr Tan brought the "results" up to me, but in actual fact, it was a blank A4 paper inside, mwahaha. The winners have already been pre-determined (not by me alone okay), n they were up in my head. Den it was Edelweiss, Pass It On, Linger n the Closure. Mr Tan Teck Tin, the GOH, gave a yarn which lasted for at least 15min. Zh, Kx n I, the emcees, stood behind him until our legs ached, as he talked abt scouting in the past. He talked abt scouting in the 1960s to 1970s to 1980s... well, you get the idea. It was, however, no doubt an interesting n insightful yarn =)
Den the campfire was closed, we sang Auld Lang Syne (I switched off my mike for that song, cuz there was interference with Kx's and Zh's mikes. Bet you guys din notice, ha!). Everyone tot the campfire ended, but it's time for a real surprise, not the lame omega thingy earlier. It was the host item, put up by the sec 3 scouts, sec 3 guides, n year one guides alumni. We gambled by putting an item at the end of the campfire, n our efforts paid off! Everyone enjoyed the ahs item tremendously, n after that, when the dancefloor was opened, practically three quarters of the people stayed back to dance. First time that happened wor. Everytime other schs campfire, all go eat refreshments n only emcees @ dancefloor de haha.
Overall, tink the campfire was a great success. Not juz the programme of cuz, but every aspect of it ^_^ Everyone played a part; the dancers, all our scouts n leaders n especially all the year ones, n even desmond for carrying 6 or 7 long poles at once after the campfire, lol.
N *u, thx for coming even tho u din feel lyk coming at first. Din had a chance to tok to u tho haha. Hope u enjoyed the whole thing.
Woo. Long update. Srry pple, can't resist giving a detailed description of the campfire =p
